The surprise: On going through to look at purchasing scanning software I noticed the news that Fujitsu had updated their old software to be 64-bit compatible! This is an about turn from what they suggested initially.

Despite at the time Fujitsu essential end-of-lining their older scanners, they still work amazingly. Problem: This put me off upgrading MacOS past 10.14, and I was about to buy VueScan to allow me to upgrade MacOS to keep in touch with newer OS features. They wanted customers to buy newer models with a new 64-bit application. With the updates to MacOS to be 64-bit applications only Fujitsu announced that they would drop support for the 32-bit application for older models of Scansnap.

I have an at least decade old S500M model which is hardware still going strong. Background: Fujitsu ScanSnaps are amazing documents scanners and useful for work-flow.
